On behalf of the entire Anderson County Fire Commission, welcome our website. For more than 40 years this countywide system has worked to provide the citizens of Anderson County with the best fire protection possible. Please take a moment to read the history of our fire system on the homepage of our website.

Currently, the task of fire protection is accomplished by more than 850 volunteer firefighters responding from 28 stations throughout the county. These dedicated firefighters along with the Headquarters staff responded to over 4000 emergency calls in 2006. Our current fleet of apparatus consists of 61 engines, 28 tankers, 30 grass trucks, 3 ladder trucks, and numerous service vehicles. We are always looking for folks who are willing to volunteer their time to become part of the Anderson County Fire Service. If you would like to get more information please contact our Headquarters at 260-4016 at anytime or just stop by and see us at 210 McGee Road. We would like to give you a tour of our facility.

  Fire Expo

 

The Anderson County Fire Chief’s Association will be hosting their 12th annual Fire Expo at the Anderson County Civic Center Tuesday October 20th from 6pm until 9 pm. Fire equipment and fire safety displays, along with the Red Cross and other community service organizations will be on hand. All area firefighters are invited to attend.

The public is invited to attend and learn about the Anderson County Fire System and fire safety. Pluggie the talking fire plug along with Sparky the Fire Dog will be attending and presenting fire safety tips.

Barbecue Plates will be on sale for $6. All Anderson County Firefighters will receive a free meal with their County Fire Department ID’s.

Worst Firefighting Loss Since 9/11

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- South Carolina's governor has ordered state flags lowered to half-staff in honor of the nine firefighters who died in a fire at a furniture warehouse in Charleston.

CHARLESTON, S.C.-- Charleston Mayor Joe Riley said it's hard to understand the magnitude of loss after nine firefighters died in a blaze at a furniture store Monday night.
Riley said the firefighters were "brave, heroic, courageous" and died carrying out their duties.
The bodies were taken to the Medical University of South Carolina for positive identification. Riley said the names will be released after the identities are confirmed.
Two employees were rescued from the blaze, which started about 7 o'clock Monday night at the Sofa Super Store and warehouse.
Riley called the loss of so many firefighters "unbelievable."
The mayor said there is no indication of arson. He said it appears to have started in a storage area in the back of the store.
State and federal officials are investigating.
